Deburring

Burr removal by grinding

Burr removal by grinding is a method to treat surfaces that is based on a combination of a mechanical process with a chemical process. Abrasive devices in defined geometries and workpieces are brought into contact with each other by way of a relative movement in the barrel. Water and liquid grinding compounds control the surface treatment.

The amount of metal removal, appearance and surface structure depend the composition and the size of the grinding media / polishing media. The settings of the technical equipment define the specific pressure that is applied to the workpiece during the grinding/polishing. The burr removal by grinding process has proven to be a particularly cost-effective way of surface treatment. As a result of innovative engineering today it has assumed a key position in any production process of metallic production parts and mass-produced parts.
